The much-awaited fourth installment of the Dhamaal franchise has finally arrived in theatres. Known for its over-the-top comedy and crazy adventures, does Dhamaal 4 live up to the series' reputation? Here's our review.

Story

Dhamaal 4 revolves around the hunt for Shaitaan Singh's century-old hidden treasure, with multiple groups racing to claim the fortune.

Prithvi (Upendra Limaye) is the only person who knows the details of the treasure map. Pirate leader Adhoora (Ravi Kishan) is determined to track him down and get his hands on the hidden wealth. At the same time, Guddu (Ajay Devgn), Adi (Arshad Warsi), Manav (Jaaved Jaaferi), Lallan (Riteish Deshmukh), Paaro (Anjali Anand), and Rosy (Sanjeeda Shaikh) also join the treasure hunt, hoping to become billionaires. What follows is a series of hilarious misunderstandings, chaotic situations, and a wild race for the fortune.

Plus Points

The first half of Dhamaal 4 manages to entertain despite offering a familiar storyline. The trailer had already made it clear that this would be a complete no-logic, full-on fun ride, and the opening hour delivers exactly that.

Several comedy sequences in the first half work well and generate genuine laughs. The pre-interval sequence, where all the lead characters are left hanging from a cliff while arguing about the treasure, is particularly entertaining. Another recurring gag featuring Jaaved Jaaferi accidentally injuring Sanjeeda Shaikh lands well and adds to the fun.

The ghost encounter involving Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Mishra is another enjoyable episode. The performances are solid across the board, with Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh, and Anjali Anand standing out with their lively performances.

Minus Points

The second half fails to maintain the energy built up earlier. As the focus shifts more towards the adventure and treasure hunt, the comedy takes a back seat. The laughs become fewer, and even the humorous moments don't have the same impact.

As the story progresses, the film begins to lose momentum. The treasure hunt portions aren't exciting enough, and the screenplay needed more entertaining moments to keep the narrative engaging.

The writing lacks sharpness, making several developments predictable. The slower pacing in the latter half further affects the experience, while a few scenes feel repetitive. Better songs could also have enhanced the overall entertainment factor.

Technical Aspects

The recreated version of the Italian classic Bella Ciao is enjoyable, but the remaining songs fail to leave a lasting impression. The quirky background score suits the film's playful tone, while Sudhir Kumar Chaudhary's cinematography effectively captures the adventurous setting.

The visual effects are decent in parts, although the green screen is quite noticeable in a few scenes. Director Indra Kumar does a fair job overall, but a stronger second half could have made the film far more entertaining. The emotional touch added towards the climax works reasonably well.

Verdict

Overall, Dhamaal 4 is an average comedy entertainer with a fair share of enjoyable moments. The first half keeps the fun going with several entertaining sequences, but the film loses steam after the interval and finishes on a rather ordinary note. The lead cast delivers good performances, and a few comedy episodes are sure to entertain family audiences. However, considering the franchise's reputation for outrageous comedy, one wishes this installment had packed in a lot more madness and laughs.
