Tate Brothers Arrested in Miami on UK Extradition Request
Controversial social media influencers Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate were arrested in Miami by the U.S. Marshals Service after British authorities requested their extradition to face new criminal charges in the United Kingdom. The arrests took place on Saturday, and the brothers are expected to appear in a U.S. federal court as extradition proceedings begin.
The UK's Crown Prosecution Service has authorized 38 new charges against the brothers, including allegations of rape, sex trafficking, sexual assault, assault, and offenses involving indecent images and extreme pornography. Prosecutors say the alleged offenses involve seven complainants and date from 2010 to 2017.
The Tate brothers have denied all allegations through their attorney, who described the charges as politically motivated and said they will contest the extradition request in U.S. courts. Under the extradition process, a U.S. federal judge will determine whether the legal requirements for surrendering them to the UK have been met.
The brothers also remain entangled in separate legal proceedings in Romania, where they have previously faced allegations of human trafficking and related offenses. Those cases are distinct from the UK's extradition request, and the Tate brothers have consistently denied wrongdoing in all jurisdictions.
