Presented by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and featuring Sumanth Prabhas in the lead, Romanchakam has now arrived in theatres. The film promises a fun-filled ride packed with friendship and comedy. Let’s see how it fares.

Story:

Anvesh (Sumanth Prabhas) is a young man who owns a startup and falls in love with Chennai girl Mythili (Ananthika Sanilkumar).

When Mythili comes to Hyderabad to meet Anvesh, things take an unexpected turn and land him and his friends in a huge mess.

What exactly happened to Mythili? Did Anvesh and his gang manage to get themselves out of the mess? The film revolves around these questions.

Plus Points:

Romanchakam largely operates in the Jathi Rathnalu zone, relying more on situational and silly comedy than on a strong or compelling plot. Thankfully, the film has a decent number of fun moments that keep the entertainment quotient alive.

The second half, in particular, offers several fun-filled episodes that are sure to generate laughs. The climax episode is one of the better portions of the film, with confusion-based comedy taking center stage and working quite well.

Sumanth Prabhas is convincing as a carefree youngster. He looks comfortable during the fun portions and shares neat chemistry with Ananthika Sanilkumar. Ananthika plays her role effectively and makes her presence felt on screen.

Venkatesh Kakumanu, Narendra Ravi, Mani Aegurla, and Sai Sohan perform well as the hero’s friends. However, Narendra Ravi stands out the most with his witty punches and hilarious frustrated expressions.

Upendra Limaye also manages to evoke laughs simply through his presence. Overall, the sequences featuring the friends’ gang have come out quite well and form the backbone of the film’s entertainment.

Minus Points:

The first half is a mixed bag, with the film taking considerable time to settle into its groove. The song featuring the friends could have been completely removed for a better overall impact.

The film also attempts to explore themes such as self-realization and the emotional side of the love track. However, these portions do not work as effectively as intended, mainly because the fun and comedy dominate the proceedings.

Technical Aspects:

Vasuki Vaibhav’s music is very pleasant and plays an important role whenever the film’s graph dips. Pavan Pappula’s cinematography adds breezy vibes to the movie, while the songs have been well-picturised.

The production values are good.

Coming to director Venu Gopal Reddy, he has done a decent job with the film. Romanchakam works best when it focuses on buddy comedy and the fun between the friends. However, a few other portions could have been handled more effectively.

His editing is just okay.

Verdict:

On the whole, Romanchakam is a watchable entertainer where fun takes center stage. The comedy sequences involving Sumanth Prabhas and his friends’ gang are the film’s biggest strength and keep the momentum going.

Ananthika Sanilkumar is impressive in her role, while the friends’ gang provides most of the laughs. The first half has its share of issues and takes some time to get going. The emotional aspects could also have been handled better.

Romanchakam works better as a comedy film built around friendship. If you are looking for some time-pass entertainment, you can give this one a try.
