Rahul Gandhi Joins Delhi Student Protests Over NEET Exam Leaks
Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi joined student-led protests in New Delhi over alleged NEET examination paper leaks and irregularities, expressing solidarity with students demanding accountability and reforms to India's examination system. The demonstrations have grown into one of the country's largest youth movements in recent years.
Rahul Gandhi, accompanied by senior Congress leaders including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, marched toward the Prime Minister's residence and staged a sit-in protest. Delhi Police later detained the leaders after they proceeded despite security restrictions, though they were subsequently released.
During the protest, Gandhi criticized the central government for its handling of the NEET controversy, alleging that repeated examination irregularities have undermined students' trust. He called for a parliamentary debate, comprehensive reforms to the examination process, and accountability from the government.
The protests follow allegations of NEET paper leaks and other examination irregularities that have sparked nationwide demonstrations by students and youth groups. In response, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has pledged reforms and greater accountability while the government maintains that it is taking steps to strengthen the integrity of the examination system.
